The species is only known from Greece, where it has been recorded in a few locations on Crete. Based on current data, it has a restricted area of occupancy (AOO = 32 km²) within an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 1,684 km². Its habitat is potentially in decline, but it is as of yet unknown if this causes a continuing decline in extent and/or quality of habitat. The species is assessed as Near Threatened, nearly meeting criteria B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii). If future research brings new data confirming continuing decline in habitat, the species may be reassessed as threatened. More research on the species' population, ecology and threats is strongly recommended.

This species is endemic to Crete (Meybohm 2008, Assing 2019). It has a wide distribution on Crete, from Kandanos to Thrypti (Meybohm 2008, Assing 2019).

There are no population size or trend data available for this species.

It has been found in Quercus woodlands and phrygana.

Destruction of its habitat due to land use is a threat to this species. Agricultural intensification, grazing, urban and touristic development (especially in the lowlands of eastern Crete, eg. Zakros) may result in decline in the species' habitat. The effects of this decline on the species need to be qualified and quantified for a proper assessment.

It occurs at sites within the Natura 2000 network. More research on the species' population, ecology and threats is strongly recommended.
