The species epithet is sometimes miss-spelled "georgiui".

This species is listed as Least Concern because even though it has a very small distribution range (area of occupancy is 24 km² and extent of occurrence is 465 km²), it is a common species, which appears not to be under threat as it develops in small branches of at least Ceratonia siliqua, a tree which is not threatened in Cyprus.

This species is endemic to Cyprus, where it was described from the southern slopes of Troodos Mountains between 300-1,000 m asl (Sama and Makris 2001).

The species is locally common (C. Makris pers. comm. 2009) and the population trend is considered stable.

Trichoferus georgioui is an obligate saproxylic species. It lives in orchards, maquis, and garigue at low and medium altitudes.

At present, only one host tree has been identified, Ceratonia siliqua (Ambrus et al. 2014). It is possible that other deciduous may serve as hosts (Hoskovec et al. 2021). The larvae develops during one to two years in dead branches and pupate in the wood. Adults are attracted to fermented fruits and wine traps (Hoskovec et al. 2021).

There appears to be no major threats to this species.

Saproxylic Coleoptera tend to be popular with beetle collectors although trade is rarely an issue, the only exceptions being a few larger species of more dramatic form or colour.

A part of its range occurs in a protected area. There are no direct conservation measures in place for this species.
