This Thai endemic tree or shrub species is known from very few collections from four karst limestone sites (with four to seven locations) which are heavily exploited for cement production. The extent of occurrence is 7,521 km² and the area of occupancy is less than 2,000 km². The threats from quarrying is inferred to cause a continuing decline in habitat quality and extent. The species is therefore assessed as Vulnerable.

This species is endemic to Thailand. The record from Vietnam is now thought to be misapplied records of Wrightia laevis. The collections in Thailand are over a wide area but most collections are over 50 years old.

There is no information on population size or trends.

This is a shrub or small tree, in lowland forests from limestone areas. There is only one recent collection from limestone.

Reported from limestone, many areas of which are under threat from cement quarrying. The site in Saraburi is under threat from quarrying, and other sites may be as well, but the Kanchanaburi site, from where it has not been recollected for 100 years, is in a protected area.
