Lagerstroemia hypoleuca, a large tree, is found in moist deciduous forests and is endemic to the Andaman Islands, India. Currently, there is not much information regarding its population, distribution, and significant threats. However, using Google Maps (2023), it is inferred there is decline in habitat area and quality due to urbanisation. Additionally, the species has not been documented in any ex situ collections. Based on the latest data, considering a small area of occupancy (16 km²) and extent of occurrence (276 km²), occurring at four locations, the species has been assessed as Endangered.
