This species ranges from Guyana to Colombia, with most collections from higher elevations in the Pakaraima Mountains of Guyana on sandstone soils up to 1,800 m. It has an extent of occurrence of 1,036,728 km2 and an area of occupancy of at least 72 km2. Some of the higher elevation Guiana Shield areas are likely to be impacted by gold-mining. Populations at lower elevations, near the coast or in the Rupununi savanna, are most likely to be impacted by infrastructure, logging, fire or other human activities. However, these factors are unlikely to impact a significant percentage of the total population distribution, if it indeed occurs across a vast continental area of (northern) South America. We thus assess this species as Least Concern (LC).
