This species is endemic to Europe, where it is restricted to the island of Corsica (France). It is assessed as Least Concern as it is widespread with stable populations and does not face any major threats.

This species is endemic to Corsica, where it is restricted to granite mountains from Cintu to Bavedda (Jeanmonod and Gamsans 2007).

This species is frequent wherever suitable habitat occurs. However, no information is available on population size or trends.

This species typically grows on flushed rock outcrops along high-altitude streams and rivers. It is a characteristic member of the Corsican leopard’s bane tall-herb communities which are riparian tall herb associations which occur along stony and rocky torrents and on dripping rocks in the upper montane, subalpine and alpine zones, typically including Doronicum corsicum, Narthecium reverchonii, Carex frigida, Calamagrostis varia var. corsica and Phalaris arundinacea var. rotgesii (Davis et al. 2004). It will also occur in “pozzines” which are flat, high-altitude acid bogs usually with scattered pools subject to at most light grazing (ONF 2005), in the “Cymbalarion hepaticifoliae” and in wet subalpine grasslands characterized by Trichoporum cespitosum and Pinguicula corsica (Tanné 2014).

There are no known significant past, ongoing or future threats to this species.

There is no evidence that this species is used.

This species occurs in the Corse Regional Nature Park (IUCN and UNEP-WCMC 2017). It has also been recorded in several areas under the designation of Zone naturelle d'intérêt écologique, faunistique et floristique: Cirque et lac Glaciaire d'Oro, Cirques et lacs Glaciaires du Monte Renoso, Cirques et lacs Glaciaires du Monte Rotondo, Cretes et hauts versants asylvatiques du Massif de l'Incudine, Cretes et hauts versants asylvatiques du Monte Cinto, Cretes et hauts versants asylvatiques du Monte Renoso, Cretes et hauts versants asylvatiques du Monte Rotondo, Cretes et hauts versants du Massif de Bavella, Foret d'altitude de Valdoniello, Foret de Bavella, Foret de Lonca-Lindinosa, Hetraie de Campotile, Hetraie du Col de Vizzavona, Massif des Aiguilles de Popolasca, Rundinaia Vallon de Castiglione, Pelouses sommitales de l'Incudine, Ravins siliceux de Polischello and Sommets du monte d'Oro et de la Punta Migliarello. There are no other conservation measures in place and none needed. There is a single ex situ accession (ENSCOBASE 2022).
