This species is known from 20 localities in Vietnam, Thailand, Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo (Brunei). It has a very large extent of occurrence (EOO) of 2,644,518 km². It is known from at least four protected areas, and it is likely to be under collected. It grows in mixed dipterocarp forest; on hill sides, ridges, or near streams, up to 1,000 m altitude. There is a decline in habitat. However, given the large EOO and the number of known localities, it is considered as Least Concern.

This species is a tree up to 45 m tall and grows in mixed dipterocarp forest; on hill sides, ridges, or near streams, up to 1,000 m altitude.

The major threats to this species are deforestation and habitat destruction through conversion to agriculture and plantations. Locally some subpopulations are threatened by urban, road and touristic developments.

There is no information on use or trade of this species.

This species is likely to occur in several protected areas. This species is not kept in any ex situ collection (BGCI 2021).
